Datex FootPrint ® WMS Announces 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance

30 Nov 2010 0 Comments

Datex, a supply chain software developer, recently announced a major improvement to its WMS product, FootPrint ®.  FootPrint® WMS now provides an audit trail and electronic signature, making it compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11.  This change directly benefits clients in the pharmaceutical, food, medical device, biotech, third party logistics and other industries.

This high level of functionality is typically only found on high end Tier 1 enterprise level warehouse management systems with higher total cost of ownership.  By introducing this functionality to FootPrint®, Datex hopes to attract businesses who want leading edge functionality without the high costs typically associated with other Tier 1 software.

Food industry experts often encourage the use of an integrated hardware and software approach in order to create good manufacturing practices (GMP) as covered in FDA’s 21 CFR 110.80. The number of highly publicized food recalls has renewed pressure on food businesses to become compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11.  This requires them to track and trace ingredients, monitor and control key process variables such as temperature and track products as they are shipped.  Although using digital recordkeeping and electronic signatures is not currently mandated by the FDA, it expedites record retrieval, saving time and labor.  Using software to track food components and hardware to accomplish such tasks as recording temperatures can eliminate mistakes made when humans fail to complete these tasks manually. Using Datex FootPrint ® software streamlines and automates many processes, reduces mistakes, records critical data, and makes information easy to use and access.

Datex FootPrint® utilizes state-of-the-art Microsoft .NET technology to provide a unified WMS solution, built from the ground up, rather than updated from older software.  Known for its familiar user interface, it is intuitive, making it easier to learn and to master with minimal training. Providing the ability to allocate items based on FIFO, FMFO, LEFO, LMFO, and FEFO to effectively manage inventory, FootPrint is able to track inventory by lot, SKU, and UPC.  The Datex WMS solution includes a labor and time saving barcode parser capable of handling variable weights and ASN receiving.   Datex FootPrint® was developed by working closely in concert with cold storage customers as well as with the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) and includes all updated industry standard reports.  To ensure a complete solution, Datex customers enjoy the highest standard of professional customer care, service, and support.

Datex will be showcasing the added functionality as part of an online demonstration for qualified attendees. Free webinars will be held on December 1st and December 8th from 2 to 3 pm.

Datex FootPrint ® WMS Adds New Ad Hoc Reporting

Datex is working hard to maintain a reputation for user friendly warehouse management software.  With the latest upgrade, version 3.2, Datex recently added new functionality which is designed to improve the user experience and save money.  Recognizing that most users of warehouse management systems lack resources in software development to create custom reports, Datex created a simple user friendly system that is easy to use and extremely flexible.  Users can select fields, then drag and drop data to create customized reports.  The reports can be exported to Excel and to a variety of formats including TIFF and PDF.  Once data is in Excel, it can be manipulated further into charts and graphs.

The new advanced ad hoc reporting system for the average, non-technical user is already a favorite of Datex clients.  “Our clients asked for the ability to create their own reports without having to pay for added professional service hours” explained Michael Armanious, President of Datex.  “Many of our clients are 3PLs.  They want to be able to create specialized reports “on the fly” for their many different clients.  This new “drag and drop” functionality provides great value to our client and their customers, giving them a new competitive advantage in a crowded industry.”

The response from Datex clients has been overwhelmingly positive.  “We are proud that our development team has created a valuable tool that is easy for our users to learn and master.  As part of our commitment to our users, we will continue to focus on making our WMS solution as user friendly and flexible as possible” said Armanious.

Datex will be showcasing the added functionality as part of an online demonstration for qualified attendees. Free webinars will be held on December 1st and December 8th from 2 to 3 pm.
