CPKC and Knight-Swift Reach Intermodal Freight Deal

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has reached a long-term deal to handle intermodal shipments for Knight-Swift’s service to Mexico. Knight-Swift will begin transitioning Mexico – U.S. traffic in Mid-May. The deal is expected to provide Knight-Swift customers with increased transport capacity and innovative transportation solutions.

The deal comes after CPKC received approval in March to form the first-ever single-line railway from Canada to Mexico. This railway will enable CPKC to divert nearly 64,000 long-haul truck shipments to Mexico per year.

This is the second deal of its kind for CPKC within a week. Last week, the railroad secured an agreement with Schneider International. The deal will provide intermodal service between Chicago and major markets in Mexico.

Amazon Reveals Information-Sharing Platform to Reduce Counterfeits

Amazon recently unveiled the Anti-Counterfeiting Exchange (ACX), an information-sharing platform designed to help retailers track counterfeiters and stop sales of online fakes.

The collaborative data-sharing platform enables members to share information about counterfeiters with each other. ACX users can learn in real-time when a peer has flagged a counterfeiter and make decisions independently regarding whether to stop using the seller in their store.

Since 2017, Amazon has stopped over 800,000 attempts from counterfeiters creating new selling accounts and identified six million counterfeit items.

RoadOne Purchases Ace Transport Miami

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics has announced their purchase of Ace Transport Miami (ATM) for an undisclosed amount. Moving forward, ATM will operate as Ace IntermodaLogistics as a division of RoadOne.

Ace currently employs 70 drivers in the south Florida area, operates a fleet of 300 chassis, and is known as a niche provider that handles overweight loads out of PortMiami and Port Everglades. Ace also operates a 100,410 square-foot warehouse in Miami which supports transload and distribution services for import and export freight.

According to RoadOne, the addition of Ace’s assets fits with its growth strategy to expand its network to service all of Florida’s ports as well as other U.S. ports and Latin America. In January, RoadOne announced the purchase of Texas-based transportation provider The Transporter Inc.
