Ask Every Vendor What Happens at the Edge of the Feature List
WMS demos typically show what a platform does today. A useful question to add is what happens when a client asks for a workflow nobody planned for. The WMS Extensibility Evaluation Sheet is a printable worksheet, vendor-neutral by design, that puts the same nine questions to every platform, so you can score each one while you are still in the room.
Before the demo, write down two or three workflows you already know are non-standard in your operation. Each vendor then answers against those workflows, not against its showcase scenario.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Nine questions plus one bonus, covering new workflows and new functionality, professional services, client-specific logic, upgrades, integrations, who can build, governance, and coding agents
- What to listen for in a strong answer, and what to probe further when an answer stays vague
- A 1 to 5 scoring grid for up to three vendors, with a total out of 50
- A space to record the workflow each vendor could not accommodate
Whether Datex or another platform is on your shortlist, the sheet keeps every vendor on the same rubric, so the comparison rests on how each platform adapts to your workflows.
